“Lavender Fields Forever”
By K. Ross
If you recall from a blog, I posted a couple of months ago (Tulip Festival edition), I hinted to an upcoming lavender festival. Well, the wait is over…It’s time to talk about the 2025 Amelia Lavender Festival. I’ve been waiting very patiently since that Tulip Festival blog to share this event with all of you! This is by far my favorite festival in Virginia.
So, let’s start the weekend of June 13th and head southwest to Amelia County and land ourselves at the Windsor Lavender Farm! This festival is three-day event, so if you can’t make on Friday the 13th (oh…I just the chills), you still have Saturday and Sunday to plan your visit! Each day consists of food, crafts, music, and of course LAVENDER. Let’s start off with the lavender, since it is the Lavender Festival. When you arrive at the farm head straight over to the fields and pick up your scissors and baskets. That’s right, you cut your own lavender! So, no matter how big or small of a bouquet you want, the choice is yours! And don’t forget to grab a selfie with all that purple goodness!
Now that you have your bouquet, let’s head over and grab some food and drink. You will have many options from a few different food trucks and don’t forget to grab a drink. There will be drinks options from local wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Now that you have your food and beverage, take a seat and enjoy the view! Oh, and you’ll be doing all while listening to some local tunes.
Are your bellies full? Perfect, let’s shop! Under all the tents, you will find a large assortment of craft vendors for you to visit. I’m sorry to say, but I don’t know what vendors that have lined up for this year. But going by past events, you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to hear what you pick up, so please your favorites!
Before I send you off on your Lavender Festival adventure, let me share a couple more activities that you can find at the festival. For the kiddo’s, there is Face Painting (WAHOO)! And for all you garden and plant lovers, there will be a live plant sale! One more lavender thing to add, there will be lots of lavender products to snag and take home with you!
Hope you all enjoy the festival…I know I will!
